I hear more and more about celebrities and fitness orientated people doing fast based or master cleanse diet regimes. All of which made me wonder whether, if these diets are so old and so effective in terms of promoting health and balance, whether something similar to the master cleanse diet would have health benefits for dogs?

More to the point, I was looking for any generally agreed wisdom about the health benefits of fasting for dogs.

I know many people who routinely enforce a fast on their dogs.

In some cases, I know of dog owners who only feed their dog 6 days per week.
